For the Italian cuisine cognoscenti, they know that all the best pasta chefs come from the region of Emilia Romagna . Hence, we walked into Stecca in Little Chelsea with high expectations as award-winning Italian chef patron Stefano Stecca grew up in that region and worked at some of the best Italian restaurants around previously like Zafferano and Brunello at The Baglioni Hotel. Stecca might have the appearance of a homely, local restaurant but the polished decor is unmistakably Chelsea with elegant looking artwork and crisp, white table cloths

With the recent closure of Veneta at St James’s, you do wonder whether the project of turning that area into a foodie destination by the Crown Estate has stuttered somewhat. Anzu , which we’ve reviewed previously on Townfish has made an intelligent move by opening a Tonkotsu ramen residency for most of January and February (the owners run both restaurants) and judging by the full-house and queue forming on a recent Saturday night visit, I suspect it might be a project they will take up on a more permanent basis. The decor has the kind of clean, minimalist design you would expect from a top-quality restaurant although you can’t help to think the furnishing is more catered towards fine-dining rather than being a ramen bar, which you suspect is what the owners originally went for.

If it wasn’t for the fact The Lord Palmerston is in Tufnell Park, tourist would be flocking to visit this welcoming, traditional British pub as an example of the “London experience” . It feels like the classic, quintessential representation of what you would expect for a British institution except everything is that slightly better than how you remembered from your previous experiences at other venues. The elegant wooden bar top is perfectly polished with friendly staff poised to serve and offering one of the most extensive selections of craft beers you will find in the local area.
